Henrik Malchau

Dr. Malchau graduated from the medical school at Aarhus University, Denmark 1977. He received his Ph.D. in 1995 from Göteborg University, Sweden. He was Chief for Department of Orthopedics, Göteborg 1993-2004 and one of the founders of the Swedish Hip Registry and also served as Director for many years. Since 2004, he is attending surgeon at the Department of Orthopedics, Massachusetts General Hospital, Co-director for the Harris Orthopedic Biomechanics and Biomaterial Lab as well as Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. The results from the Swedish National Register have clearly demonstrated the importance of the surgical technique for long-term clinical results. He has stressed this in his postgraduate educational activity and traveled internationally to share these observations with the orthopedic community. He has been an active clinician performing numerous primary and revision hip arthroplasties during the past 21 years. He has also taken an active part as a course organizer for postgraduate courses on practical and theoretical aspects of primary and revision THR. On an international level, he has actively participated with either oral presentations, posters, Scientific Exhibits or Instructional Courses, in all ORS and AAOS meetings since 1986. In addition, he has tutored several Ph.D. students with the intention of continuing these extremely important educational activities for coming generations of orthopedics surgeons.
